

Robert Firestone, 75, passed away on January 7, 2013, of pneumonia. Bob was born on December 13, 1937 in Wichita, Kansas, son of Jesse and Marian Firestone. He grew up in Northern Illinois. After serving in the Army, Bob worked for Continental Can Company in Quality Control in Chicago, Illinois, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, St. Joseph, Missouri, Mankato, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Somerville, New Jersey. After moving to Bridgewater, New Jersey, he became a medical ultra sound technician working in a clinic and teaching. He retired in Kansas City, Missouri..
He enjoyed antiques auctions, traveling, jazz, the Zoo, the Heartland Men’s Chorus, the Kansas City Ballet, Powell Gardens and Starlight Theater. Bob enjoyed adding to his collection of owls from large stone to tiny crystal to life-size porcelain. Time with family and friends brought joy and satisfaction to Bob’s life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Richard Firestone, and his former wife Linda Firestone. Bob is survived by his stepmother Margaret Firestone of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, sister Sally Firestone of Kansas City, son Scott Firestone of Mountain View, California, stepbrothers and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, January 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Kingswood Senior Living Community.
