He was the oldest of two sons to Aimee (Johnson) and Robert Chambers Sr. Bob was
preceded in death by both parents, his brother, John, and ex-wife Constance (Shaw)
Chambers.
Bob’s family moved to Independence, MO in 1945. He attended Young Elementary
School and was bused to Lincoln High School before graduating from William Chrisman
High School in 1956. He completed an Associate of Arts degree from Kansas City, KS
Community College.
During high school, Bob began working part-time in title insurance and continued in that
career for forty-one years, retiring from Chicago Title Insurance. After retirement, he
became a realtor at ReeceNichols Real Estate. He served on the Jackson County
Board of Equalization as a representative for the Raytown School District and was a
member of the Raytown Chamber of Commerce.
For over forty years, Robert was a member of St. Stephen Baptist Church. He was a
founding member of United Believers Community Church before later becoming a
member of New Birth Christian Center, serving as a deacon and in other ministries. His
final church home was Graceway where he served on the Dream Team.
Bob enjoyed watching sports, especially the Chiefs and Royals and loved to travel.
Lately, he could be seen sitting on the back deck or in the garage, listening to smooth
jazz.
Bob is survived by four children: Cynthia Chambers of Los Angeles, CA, Janice Chambers Cotton
of Dallas, TX, Curtis Chambers of Kansas City, MO, and Amy Wedgeworth (Stephen II)
of Independence, MO; ex-wife Charmelle Chambers of Independence, MO;
grandchildren: Crystal Saunders of Orange County, CA, Corey Tyler of Austin, TX,
Charles Royale (Rochelle) of Jefferson City, MO, Chad Chambers of Los Angeles,
CA, Samiya, Stephen III, and Austin Wedgeworth of Independence, MO;
great-grandchildren: Caison, Daylen, and Tyler Phillips of Orange County, CA; maternal
uncle and aunt Otis Johnson and Mary Alice Evans of St. Louis, MO; and a host of
extended relatives and friends.
A visitation for Robert will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133, followed by a memorial service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
