My mother and I are so sad to learn of the passing of Bob, who was such a wonderful friend to my father Fred.  Dad had such a good time traveling to China with Bob and Teresa.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Teresa.

I fondly remember Bob as a driver of agendas. I enjoyed working with Bob to give back to those in need. Bob had a huge heart. We were creative in the ways we brought our Sister City relationships together for KC and Xian. I thought of him fondly as I traveled to Beijing and Shanghai last year and some day will make it to his part of that great country. Bob was kind to my family and even took my daughter traveling with a educational trip to China many years ago. God bless Teresa for all the support and kindness you provided.    Bob was not only a great Rotarian but a great human in our world and I am sure he will be missed by many.  

Mr.  Chien was always so friendly to me.  I knew him in Gunnison.  We have lasting memories of our family as a result of His wonderful photographs!   The lovely memory pictures portray his kindness  and joy for life.   My prayers are offered up for your family in this time of sorrow.

I met Bob and Teresa when he worked for the Gunnison Country Times in Gunnison, Colorado back in the early 1960s.  I was a little girl, but I still remember visiting the Chien family, the wonderful food,and great social gatherings. He was a remarkable photographer and I have some of his photos from that time period.  Bob made the world a better place.  I am so sorry for his passing.  Teresa and family, please know that he will be greatly missed and you are in my thoughts and prayers.  Lois Steinbeck

The world is a little less bright in learning of Bob's passing.  Our hearts go out to his beloved wife, Theresa and his whole family.  He lived life to the fullest and the lives he touched are uncountable.  He was very much loved.  He leaves friends from around  the world, all better for knowing this inspirational and dedicated man.  God bless him and his family.  Heartfelt condolences.

So saddened by Bob's passing.  I feel very fortunate to have had Bob as my friend for many years. I will always remember his kindness to me when I first moved to KC.  I'm not sure how much poker-money he won from me over the years but it was considerable---and well worth the camaraderie shared at the card table!  He had an infectious laughter and I saw it often any time I was around him.  I will always remember that about Bob.

So sorry for your loss.  May God continue to comfort you during this sad time (John 14:18 "I will not leave you bereaved.  I am coming to you".).  AR

Bob and Teresa were friend of my family after they both showed up in Gunnison, Colorado to attend Western State College. My father was held many jobs at Western. One of those was Foreign Student Adviser. I remember Bob arriving first arrived, i think he stay at our house for several days until he had proper Gunnison Winter Clothing.  Many nights were -60 Degrees below and several feet of snow [had to be in the  middle 1950's]. Theresa from Nursing School in Pueblo Colorado after receiving her Nursing Degree.  Both Bob and Theresa were active in the Foreign Students Club along with many other from other countries. Many arrived without warm winter clothing.   Bob continued after Graduation with working in Gunnison at the local Newspaper and eventual owning the Little Art Studio. Then he moved to Kansas City establishing a Printing Shop that had three or four branches at one time.  He was also influential in the City and established a Sister City with XiAn China. I was fortunate to be living in XiAn at the time. Bob introduced me to several city officials so that I could work with them after Bob left. Bob was a booster of the Statue in one of the parks where the  small statue is still displayed. I think he was had part in the Dragon Boat Races that are held annually in Kansas City.Bob was a good American Citizen for Kansas City. What a wonderful man!  Doing so much and so long to promote the friendship between peoples of China and Kansas City.  The Big Bad Bob will always be remembered.
