

Robert K. Godt, 82, passed away May 1, 2013. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, May 6, at The John Knox Village Chapel, 400 NW Murray Road, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital, 2401 Gillham Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64108.
Bob was born June 23, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri, son of Edward and Viola (Eileman) Godt. He was the youngest of eight. He graduated from Central High School in St. Louis in 1949. He married Darlene Christian on February 10, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri. On December 10, 1951 he was sworn into the U.S. Marine Corps. He was stationed at the Marine Corps School in Quantico, VA, with the supply unit of HMX Helicopter Squadron. Bob was discharged in November of 1953 with the rank of Sergeant.
After his discharge he went back to work for Lewis-Howe Co. (makers of “Tums for the Tummy”) in St. Louis in the Processing Dept., retiring in 1990 after 42 years of service. Bob is one of three people inducted into the “Tums Hall of Fame”. He was the Commander of American Legion Post 385 in St. Louis. He was elected as the President of the Camp Fire Girls, Greater St. Louis Council and President of Waterford Crossing HOA in O’Fallon, Missouri. In January of 2010 Bob and Darlene moved to John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, Missouri
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Darlene; his daughter Jan Kartsonis (Bill); grandsons Matthew Kartsonis and David Kartsonis (Georgia); great-granddaughter Maria Kartsonis; extended family and friends. Condolences may be offered at www.mtmoriah-freeman.com
