Robert Grant “Jeff” Jeffers, 88, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away January 27, 2013. Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. followed by memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Private graveside in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the DAV, 8026 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64114. Jeff was born April 3, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of Ulysses Grant and Ellen Jane (Closs) Jeffers. He was a 1949 graduate of KU. Jeff was a U.S. Navy World War II pilot, retiring as Lt. Cmdr. He also retired from Black & Veatch as Mechanical Engineer. He enjoyed KU basketball, spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks, playing poker with the B&V Poker group, and having lunch with the Blenheim Boys. He was preceded in death by his wife Lurlene “Bunny” Jeffers, sister Dorothy Nugent, and three grandchildren Ron, Tracy and David Asbury. He is survived by his son Mark Jeffers (Teresa); daughter Cheryl Allenbrand (Gary); four grandchildren Robert Fowler, Brian Jeffers, Nicole Jeffers and Daniel Jeffers; one great-granddaughter Reghan Reynolds; and many other extended family members and friends.
