Bob was born on August 17, 1932 to Charles Scott Reasy and Florence Catherine Van Dyke Reasy in Sabetha, Kansas and was the fifth of seven children. He graduated from Oneida High in Oneida, Kansas in 1951. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1952 and served until 1956, receiving an Honorable Discharge with the rank of Airman First Class. After completion of his service, he returned to Edgerton, Missouri and attended vocational school to be trained as an automobile mechanic. In the following years, Bob worked as a mechanic for various auto dealerships in the Greater Kansas City area, working on American built cars including the Buick, Chevrolet and Ford brands. He ultimately retired from the Gary Crossley Ford dealership in 1997. Bob was an active member of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers and served as a Union Representative for many years throughout his career.
Bob practiced his faith sincerely and served as a Deacon in the Baptist Church. He and his family joined the Winnwood Baptist Church in 1970, where they have remained active members through current time. Bob and his wife Anne worked with the Youth Group in the early 80's. Bob was often awarded the position of Bus Driver for the youth when they needed one more level-headed guide and chaperone for their local and long-distance excursions. Bob was known for his sense of humor and the ability he had through action and word to guide the youth forward in faith.
Bob also served as a Scout Leader with Troop 212 of the Heart of America Council of the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Named Swift Rising Quail, he assisted in leading his son Ray (Little Swift Rising Quail) and grandson Austin (Son of Aztec Warrior Trader of Provisions) to the rank of Eagle. Bob was a guide and inspiration to his sons-in-law John (Sleeping Brown Bear) and Andrew (Aztec Warrior Trader of Provisions) and will be watching over his grandsons Alex (Deep Harmony) and Chance (Piercing Crescent Moon) as they attain their own rank of Eagle Scout.
Bob was an avid hunter of quail and deer and became a member of The Clay County Sportsman Club in Holt, Missouri in 1975. He enjoyed many hours in the wild with his dogs Hawk, Cindy, Dixie, Sam, and Tootsie Roll Sue.
He met the light of his life, Anna Mae Parker, of St. Joseph, Missouri on July 14, 1956 and they were married on June 14, 1958. Throughout their 59 years of marriage they lived in the Northland area of Kansas City and enjoyed a vibrant life engaged in their family, church and scouting communities. Ann convinced Bob to travel to many places and enjoy adventures in Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean. The highlight of their trips was the cruise they took to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary with their entire family, visiting Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and St. Martin via the Royal Caribbean ship Mariner of the Seas.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother Charles Reasy; sisters Dorothy Reasy Lyons, Lucille Reasy Benedict, and Alice Reasy McClellan. He is survived by his wife Anna Mae (of the home); sister Mary Reasy Arden (Montana); and Phyllis Reasy Reynolds (Illinois), son Ray Gene Reasy; daughter Shellie Ann Reasy Jeffrey (John), daughter Merry Breckon Morales (Andrew) and grandchildren, Austin, Gabrielle, Alex and Chance.
