A memorial service for Bob will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 10:00 AM officiated by Fr. Galen Snodgrass at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 4947 NE Chouteau Drive, Kansas City, MO 64119. Bob will be laid to rest in the church’s columbarium following his memorial service.
Bob was born May 20, 1957 to parents Elmer and Betty (Walker) Rogers in Kansas City, MO. He attended Meadowbrook Elementary, Antioch Junior High, and graduated from Oak Park High School. Following high school, Bob attended Maple Woods Community College where he acquired his Associate’s Degree and later obtained his Bachelors of Science in Marine Biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Throughout his life Bob had many different jobs. When he was in Kansas City and going to school, Bob worked on a sod farm. In 1985, Bob worked for B.N.S.F. Railroad in track maintenance. After moving to Wilmington for school, Bob got a job delivering propane. When Bob moved back to Kansas City, he went to work for Topsy’s Popcorn as a delivery driver. Bob worked for GEODIS as a forklift driver for the last 15 years of his life.
Bob was a certified scuba diver and enjoyed playing the guitar, hiking and walking trails, and mountain biking. He even wrote and recorded a blues song, “Aluminum Man.” Bob also took care of his mother and her cats toward the end of her life.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Betty Rogers. He is survived by his brothers, Douglas and Jeffrey Rogers; sister, Marsha Coats; former wife, Regina, and her sons, Warren and Solomon.
