Robert Gene Schmitt

Robert Gene Schmitt, 90, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on March 30, 2023. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Edward and Rachel Schmitt. He served his country in the Korean War as an ambulance driver. He married Jana (Campbell) Schmitt on 7/1/76, and they had one daughter Janessa (Schmitt) Carroll. Bob was a “way above average” husband, dad, and grandpa. He worked in the insurance industry for many years and was very successful in commercial insurance sales. He was a member of Blue River Church of Christ. Bob enjoyed golfing, 3D puzzles, reading Westerns, watching Chiefs, Royals, and Western movies, and spending time with his family.

He was always there for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward Schmitt, and sister Stella Horting. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jana, daughter Janessa, two granddaughters Laney and Piper, two nephews, and two nieces.

A visitation for Robert will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133. A committal service will occur Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 10:52 AM to 11:30 AM at Floral Hills Cemetery, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133.
