Robert Soltero, 94 of Kansas City, Missouri, died on November 28, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, 901 Avenida Cesar Chavez, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. and Rosary at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 2 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, MO. Entombment will be with his wife, Carmen, in Mt. Uncle Bob (as he was known by many) was born on November 5, 1927 in Kansas City, Kansas to Luis Joel Soltero and Manuela Castillo Soltero. During his life Bob was many things; a WWII Navy veteran, member of the Knight Of Columbus & American Legion, a career in the hotel and restaurant industry where he wore many hats. An excellent cook and chef he loved to create flavors, an avid golfer where he could be found at Swope Park Memorial Golf Course and retired golf marshall for over 25 years, Past president of KC PAN American Golf Association a pool shooter (shark); and volunteered to several organizations, most notably the Guadalupe Center (30 plus years) where he served as a board member and initiated the Golf and the Culinary Programs for the respected community center, a coach and manager for various KC MO 3&2 baseball clubs and as a heritage dancer with the Azteca Dancers in his youth.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen.
Family members who have preceded Bob were parents, Luis and Manuela; brother, Tony Soltero; & sister, Connie Martino.
Family members who survive Bob are his brothers, Jose Luis Soltero Jr, Lee’s Summit, Mo & John Andrew Soltero, Kansas City, Mo ; 2 sons, Gary Michael Soltero, Leawood, Ks and Larry Anthony Soltero, Leawood, KS; and daughter, Joann Soltero, Kansas City, Mo; 4 grandsons, Dominic, Stefen, Joseph & Vito; 1 great-grandson, Alex.
The Soltero Family recommends that any charitable donations be made to Guadalupe Center on his behalf.
