Ron was born to Ronald Lee and Berta Jean (nee Wilson) Thomas in 1931. He was an only child.
Ron was born in Oklahoma City, OK and spent his younger years in Long Beach, CA and Eldorado Springs, MO. The family then moved to Independence, MO where Ron attended high school at William Chrisman.
Ron received his carpentry apprenticeship with local #1329 in 1949. Carpentry was his passion and he and his Dad worked side by side for many years. Ron eventually went to work for Elliott Ottinger where he worked until he retired in 1992. He kept in touch with many of his crew and often referred to them as “fine men“.
Ron was a proud, life long member, of the Mt Washington Masonic Lodge #614 having been a member since 1958. He loved fishing and hunting and up until last year spent his vacations at the lake enjoying family and friends.
He was a generous and giving person and was a friend to everyone that knew him. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and lived his life accordingly. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church.
Ron loved his grandchildren and besides his wife, they were the light of his life. He is survived by his wife; Lena, sons; Michael (Sylvia) and Larry (Denise); his daughter, Janet, and many grand and great grand children. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Berta Jean Thomas, and son-in-law, Larry Clark (Janet).
