Rosalie Claire (Poe) Lane, Age 89, of the Kansas City area (Independence and Grandview) was called home on Sunday, September 27, 2020. She was born on September 14, 1931 to Merle Ellsworth Poe and Amanda Jane (Wills) Poe. On November 19, 1949 she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart Floyd Glen Lane Jr. The two lovebirds met in art class at Northeast Highschool where he affectionately called her “Rusty”, a nickname she had for her beautiful, wavy, auburn hair. Rosalie was a true lady. After graduation she worked for Southwestern Bell as a Switchboard Operator until she and Floyd were blessed with their first child, Michael. The love for her family drew her to be a homemaker. She had two more children, James and Rozanna, and traveled the world with her husband in the army. Together, they had a wonderful life. She loved the Lord and for many years was a member of the First Baptist Church of Independence. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to Church. She also enjoyed arts and crafts (sewing, painting, ceramics, quilting, among others) and anything pink. She had an affinity for entertainment, from playing cards with family and friends to going to the shows at the New Dinner Theater. She loved the world and saw beauty everywhere she went. She loved to travel, take photos, and try new and different types of food (especially if it was chocolate)! She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and child of God.
Rosalie is survived by her children, James (and Jenny) Lane and Rozanna (and Mark) Eastland; 4 grandchildren, Holly (and Nelson) Cartagena, Jessica Eastland, Christina (and Chris) Valentine, and Eric Eastland; 7 great-grandchildren; and other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Floyd Glen Lane Jr.; son, Michael Lane; sister, Ava Merle Poe; great-grandchild Giana Cartagena; and her beloved pets Jolie, Marty, and Pretty Boy Floyd.
Visitation will be held on October 3, 2020 at 9:30 am at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd. Kansas City, MO. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am with graveside service to follow.
