Rosemary was born on April 18, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri to Marie and Ben Cascio, second generation Italian-Americans. She spent her formative years in Northeast Kansas City, where she attended Holy Cross Grade School and Cardinal Glennon High School. During this time she forged deep friendships that remained dear to her throughout her life. In her youth, Rosemary enjoyed socializing with friends, dancing, and cheerleading. Her kindness and amiable nature earned her the admiration of many as well as the title of May Day Queen.
Following high school, Rosemary pursued higher education at the Kansas City Business College in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. She embarked on a career in business, initially working for the Gas Company. Later, Rosemary was drawn to the grocery industry. At the time, her parents owned one of the largest grocery stores in Missouri, Cascio’s Food Mart. Rosemary’s combined knowledge of her family’s grocery business and retail product sales led her to a position in sales at American Can Company, which was later acquired by the largest paper manufacturer, the James River Corporation.
Rosemary adored sales. During one memorable trade show, Rosemary performed a cartwheel for every truckload of paper products purchased. She was very successful in her sales endeavors, all the while raising her two daughters as a single mother. After retirement, Rosemary helped out at Cadast Investment Company, a family business that developed and managed a shopping center in the Kansas City area.
Rosemary loved golf, travel, and playing cards. She married Ronald Bothwell, her husband of the past 25 years and the love of her life. Together, the couple shared a life full of activities and maintained a constant social schedule. The pair cherished their time together and enjoyed traveling to destinations such as Washington DC, Alaska, Sedona, Orlando, Savannah, all of the Hawaiian islands, Italy, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, and more.
Rosemary's defining trait was her unwavering positivity. She firmly believed in the power of beginning each day with a positive mindset. Her radiant personality and genuine warmth endeared her to all who knew her. As a result, Rosemary forged lifelong friendships wherever she went. Rosemary’s love for her friends and family knew no bounds, and she was cherished in return.
