Our beloved Grand Patriarch, Ross Joseph Ozburn, 87, of Leawood, KS, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, September 4, 2016. Ross was born May 11, 1929, and attended Murphysboro High School in Southern Illinois. After receiving an athletic scholarship to Louisiana State University where he played both football and basketball, he enlisted in the US Navy during the Korean conflict. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bernadine, sweethearts since they both attended St Andrews Catholic Elementary School. Survivors also include his brother William (Bill) Ozburn; his children Joe Ozburn, Gay Showalter, Linda Wade, Tim Ozburn, Pat Ozburn and Scott Ozburn. Joe also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren who all loved their “Papa” very much. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ross may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
