

Ruben del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus Yanez, 91, Kansas City North, passed away October 4, 2013. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 9am Saturday, October 12th at St. Gabriel Catholic Church; burial in Mt Washington Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled from 5-8pm Friday at the Church where a rosary will be prayed at 6 PM. The family suggests contributions to the Ruben Yanez Memorial Scholarship at St. Pius X High School.
Ruben was born in Tarimoro, Guanajuato, Mexico on March 20, 1922 to Romulo and Bernabe Yanez. After his family immigrated to the United States he attended grade school and high school at St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Parsons, KS. He was a Corporal, Tech 5 in the Army during WWII and after his service went on to become a warehouse manager. He married his wife of 63 years Francisca and was an active member of the parishes to which he belonged. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
Ruben is remembered for his smile, quick wit, love of family, friends, music, sports, and service to others. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Marta Ludwig; sisters Transito, Francis, Lupe, and brothers Jesse and Rojelio. He is survived by wife Francisca, and children & spouses Fabian & Delaine Yanez, Keith Ludwig, Adrian & Anne Yanez, Dan & Janet Yanez, Mary & Steve Reichert, Brian & Laura Yanez, Damian & Cathy Yanez, Sabin & Angel Yanez, Florian & Julie Yanez; 26 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Mary, Vincent, Avelina, Elias, Julia and many, nieces, and nephews.
Ruben loved completely and selflessly, laughed often and was an inspiration every day to those who were blessed to know him.
