Ruth and my Aunt Shirley Hunter were best friends. I have only fond memories of any time we saw Ruth and Warren at any event at Shirley and Elmo Hunter's. Aunt Shirley, Ruth and Thelma Haynes along with a little assistance from my mother Virginia Auld, gave the best teas ever. I believe Ruth is the last of a group of true ladies that were good friends in my life. My condolences to Steve and Billy and your families. Your mother was quite a lady and will always be remembered fondly.

Family was first for Aunt Ruth. She always had time and energy for all of us providing beds and meals. Sitting thru 2 showings of "Greatest Show on Earth" with Allen and me at NE theatre, visiting Joy and me when we lived in Venice Fl.,always attending our house shindigs 1st to arrive and last to leave, driving Steve, Joy and me back to Drake from KC at end of Xmas break starting late in KC evening,being 3rd set of grandparents to Gene and Deb when our kids were the only ones (Morningside Dr.), She and U. Warren visiting Steve at Drake while Joy and I were also there and attending a rehearsal in ATO basement dining hall of Frat musical competition (only attendees), picnics in Swope Park, singing in Ward Parkway Pres. Choir, fireworks on 4th of July nites at her parent's house, the Perrigos, no end to her participation, enthusiasm, graciousness and love. Ben & Joy Swank

Dave and I send our deepest condolences for Aunt Ruth's passing.  Aunt Ruth was special to me throughout my life.  I would like to share a few memories.  I can remember all the way back being a small child having Christmas, birthdays and other family gatherings at Aunt Ruth and Uncle Warren's house. Aunt Ruth was a terrific cook and I remember the elegant house, and the wonderful array of platters and food.  Everyone was jovial and loving and I had great times!  I was told for one of my earliest birthdays at Aunt Ruth's house, I was only wanting to eat the icing on the cake. I was being scolded for this by others, then Aunt Ruth lifted me up on her lap and spoon fed me the icing from the cake.  What a great lady!!!  I always admired and looked up to Aunt Ruth.  When I was out of school and in my first house, I made a big brunch spread.  I made it as elegant as I could (funny but true), and invited Aunt Ruth for brunch.  It was only the two of us; we visited and had a nice time. Even in her later years, Aunt Ruth was always terrific about attending any family  gatherings Dave and I had at the house. We could always count on Aunt Ruth to attend and add lots to the occasion.  Aunt Ruth was very dear to me and I treasure the relationship we had.  We will miss Aunt Ruth and will always think of her and Uncle Warren with special affection.  Dave and I regret we cannot travel in for the funeral, but will be thinking of Aunt Ruth and Uncle Warren with great fondness and love.  Our deepest condolences and God Bless all of the Slagle family-- from your cousins Dave and Deb in Texas.

I will surely miss my Aunt Ruth and proudly carry her name.  She was always a source of support, open arms, and love for our families.  We carry so many fabulous memories of times with her. And I must mention her cooking.  (Her brisket was a stand out!)  Hats off to Ruth and her Warren as well.

I just returned from Spring Break. My heart is broken. I loved Ruthie like no other. I will miss her and our visits. I have enjoyed so many lunches and shopping excursions with Ruth. Our Sunday afternoon visits were some of my favorite times with her. I praise God for our friendship and I am so grateful that Ruth did not have to endure a long illness. I know the love she had for her granddaughters was the highlight of her life. 
She was and will always be an inspiration to me.
I will miss her greatly.
