Sandra Sue David

Sandra graduated from St. Francis, KS High School in 1953. She attended Kansas Wesleyan College, and later Kansas State University where she met and married her husband Wayne L. David on December 27, 1955.

With her husband Wayne, Sandra cared for and supported her three children Mark, Ann and Kurt. In the late 1970’s Sandra bravely became a non-traditional student, earning her Masters of Nursing Degree from the University of Kansas. Sandra’s nursing career included M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX, the University of Kansas Medical Center in their Neo-Natal Care Unit, and an in-home nurse/coach to new mothers in Kansas City, KS.

Following retirement from nursing, Sandra enjoyed traveling with her husband Wayne and quilting with the Quilt Guild of Greater Kansas City. Sandra was also an avid reader encouraging all friends and family to enjoy the gift of a book.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Pauline Kail, as well as her brother Retired Colonel Richard Kail. Sandra’s husband Wayne also preceded her in death. Sandra is survived by her son Mark R. (Karen Sale) David of Providence, RI, daughter Ann David of Mission, KS, son Kurt (Kathy) David of Lenexa, KS, grandchildren Jennifer David Khouri (Aaron) of Lenexa, KS, Charlotte David of Cambridge, MA, and Hayden David of Manhattan, KS, and great granddaughter Emma Khouri.

Services for Sandra will be 10:00 am on September 21, 2024 at the Wesley Chapel of Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Johnson County Library Foundation online or at P.O. Box 2933, Shawnee Mission, KS 66201.
