Scott Hughes, 58, Kearney (formerly of Kansas City), passed away unexpectedly on May 1. A Remembrance and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 13 at 2:00 PM at Smithville Cemetery. Wake to follow.
Scott was born Sept. 6, 1958 at North Kansas City Hospital to Delbert and Bettie (Clark) Hughes. A life-long resident of the area, Scott graduated from Winnatonka High School and Maple Woods College. He worked 30+ years at the Kansas City Water Treatment Plant.
Scott had a passion for re-enacting Civil War and World War I battles. He was a founder of Shelby’s Fifth Missouri Cavalry and was in numerous movies, including “North and South.
Preceded in death by his parents, Scott is survived by a sister, Valerie (Mike) Potter; niece Katharine (Nick) Hunter; nephew Matthew Potter; grand-nephew Glen Hunter; and numerous friends.
