Sheryl was born October 31, 1947 in Clinton, IA. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1973 with a Bachelor of Liberal Science degree. She received her Masters in English from the University of Central Missouri in 1975 and received her Masters of Social Worker from University of Kansas in 2006.
She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Grace Hoogheem, brother Lawrence Paul Hoogheem and son Stuart David Phillips. Sheryl is survived by the father of her children Stuart Michael Phillips, daughter Kathryn Phillips, son-in-law Chris Powell, grandchildren Kaylee Phillips, Wrigley Powell, Addison Ivy Powell, sister Bonnie Pryor and her husband Wayne Polyzou, and her close family friend Joan Hubbard, extended family and friends.
