Shirley was born on May 5, 1945, in Paris, Missouri. She proudly served her country in the U.S. Army as a medical assistant. Her military service shaped her sense of discipline and compassion, qualities she carried throughout her life.
After her time in the Army, Shirley became a radiologist technician and worked at Shawnee Mission Medical Center for over 20 years and retired after a fulfilling career.
Shirley had a deep love for animals, particularly cats and dogs. She often took in pets that were sick or in need of care, giving them a safe and loving home. Over the years, Shirley rescued and cared for many animals, and her compassion for them was evident to everyone who knew her.
Shirley’s legacy of love, service, and compassion will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind cherished memories and a lasting impact on both the people and animals whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Branham, and her mother, Callie Irene Branham.
Shirley is survived by her son, Steve Barton; her brothers, Bill Branham and Homer Branham; her nieces, Vida Snook of California, Debbie Branham of Arizona, and Cindy Thurston of Centralia, Missouri; and her nephews Jim Branham of Austin, Texas and Charles Branham of the Philippines.
