

Steven Joseph Hastings, Jr. 42, of Merriam, KS passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 11, 2022 at his home in Merriam, KS. He was born on January 23, 1980 in Fort Hood, Texas and moved to Kansas City in the early 1980s. Friends & family remember Steven as a tireless working supervisor, dedicated churchgoer, and trusted confidant. He enthusiastically offered his time to multiple youth sports teams and anyone who needed his help.
Steven was a devoted husband who is survived by his wife, Gloria Theresa Botello Hastings. He is also survived by his beloved children, Cody Agnew (Kelly), Steven ”Stevie” J. Hastings III (Tabitha), Diamond Hastings (Alyssa), and Omar Hastings. Steven was also a proud grandfather of Brooklyn Agnew, Kaiden Agnew (Cody) and Steven J. Hastings, IV (Stevie). Steven is also survived by his father, Steven J. Hastings, Sr. of Colorado Springs, CO; his brother, Billy Hastings (Kirsten); sisters, Elizabeth “Beth” Grabill Hastings, Lilly Piasecki, and Christina Hastings; aunt, Jane Burch, Kansas City, KS; uncle, Michael Hastings of Pasadena, TX; nephews and nieces, (Beth) Matthew Hastings, Tori Hastings, Kylera Grabill (Lilly), Tyler Elliott, Jacob Manning, Joey Piasecki (Billy) “Lil” Billy Hastings, Izabel Hastings, Abigail Hastings, Eugene Hastings; (Christina) Christina “Beena” Taylor; and grandniece, Amiah Hastings (Tori).
In his passing, Steven joins his dearly departed mother, Vickie Lynn Burch Hastings, and his grandparents, Pearl “Betty” and Norman Burch, Merl Leroy Hastings and Francis Cornelius.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Sacred Heart-Guadalupe Church, 2544 Madison Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022 at Sacred Heart-Guadalupe Church.
