Sue was born in Kansas City and attended high school at Redemptorist. It was there after she played basketball and tennis that she developed the love of sports and competition. That was a love that would remain with her for the rest of her life. She loved the Kansas City Blues baseball team and was a member of their "fan club." There are still some of the programs from the games she attended with the hits, runs, and errors perfectly annotated.
After graduating from college Sue joined the faculty at St. Teresa's academy in 1959. She was a new P.E. (Physical Education) teacher with aspirations to be a coach. That opportunity came almost immediately when she became both basketball and tennis coach.
Throughout the years her teams participated in the Missouri 4-A tournaments in basketball and tennis. Competing and finishing second in basketball and several times as champions in tennis. Sue had such an amazing opportunity to teach and coach hundreds of young women, instilling in them sportsmanship and dedication.
Outside of St. Teresa's Sue had a number of interests. Although she small in stature, she loved big powerful cars. In 1963 she purchased a brand new Oldsmobile Starfire with the biggest engine available. The convertible was black with custom red leather seats. She drove it for just 2 years before buying the car that was with her for the remainder of her life; a 1965 Rally Red Chevrolet Corvette. She drove the car for many years before renovating it in 2015.
Sue had such a big and long life and we still learn from her. After she retired, at family events, Sue would seek out the younger high school and college kids so she could talk sports. She never quit wanting to be involved with everyone.
