the late Bruce and Joan Law, whose love and values she carried forward in every aspect of her life. Alongside Tom Grube, her husband of 61 years, she built a beautiful family
Susan's nurturing spirit found a perfect outlet in her career as an elementary school teacher in
Springfield and Grandview, Missouri. A woman of simple joys, she loved square dancing and line dancing—her laughter always echoing through the halls as her feet found rhythm in the company of friends.
Weekends were often spent at the farm, where she delighted in hosting cookouts filled with fishing and s’mores. These gatherings included one memorable Thanksgiving of flag football where Sue, of course, was the ‘secret weapon.’ Her family fondly recalls her joy in riding the Ferris wheel with her kids, grandkids, and her cherished great grandkids. In quieter moments, Susan had an affinity for crosswords—finding peace in the challenge they offered—and a special fondness for ladybugs, which she believed were a symbol of luck.
Her positivity was contagious, often summed up in her favorite assurance, “it will all work
out”—a reminder that, most often, it does. Susan also had a sweet tooth for Peeps and lemon meringue pie, treats that brought her simple joy.
Susan's legacy lives on in her beloved family: her husband, Tom; and her loving children, John Grube and Lisa Eberhardy (Richard). She was the treasured grandmother of six: Emily, Erica,
Cody, Jordan, Colton, and Camryn; a loving great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren; and a cherished sister to Alice Beshoner (Jerry), all of whom will carry forward her spirit of kindness and love.
The family would like to express immense gratitude to the angelic nurses from Direct Care and John Knox Village Hospice.
A service to honor Susan's life will be held on April 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the John Knox
Village Chapel, located at 400 NW Murray Rd., Lee’s Summit, MO 64081.
In lieu of flowers,
and in honor of her years teaching children and the fight against cancer, the family is kindly
requesting donations to Kymel, Inc., to benefit Camp Hope (www.kymel.org).
As we say goodbye to Sue, we celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who taught us all the
true meaning of grace, love, and resilience. Her memory will forever be a blessing and an
inspiration to those who knew and loved her.
