Sylvia Ann Mardis Barber, 76, of Cleveland, Missouri passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Kansas City Hospice House. Sylvia was born on October 25, 1933 in Great Bend, Kansas to Allen Fay and MaeDeane (Goodman) Merriman. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 18th at Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64145. Sylvia was a member of the Lions Club of Cleveland, Missouri, Photoshop Society member and co-founded the Tri-County newspaper of Cleveland, Missouri. She loved all animals especially cats, but most of all her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband Merlin Mardis, second husband Stephen Barber and a sister Barbara Muller. She is survived by her sons, David Harms and Lawrence Mardis; daughters, Sheila Mardis, Elizabeth Pena, and Nancy Mardis; step-son, Doug Barber; step-daughter, Vicki Hayward; brother, James Merriman; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
