Thomas was born on May 7th, 1957, in Kansas City, KS, to Fortunato and Frances Cobian. He married the love of his life, Janice (Smith) on July 24, 1982, and was a devoted father to his children: Tracie; Jerett (Kathe); Jordan; and bonus son, Jake. His most cherished title was being “Pappi” to his 5 grandchildren and his extended grandchildren.
Thomas valued his friendships and had a way of turning ordinary introductions into meaningful connections. He never knew a stranger. He truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and recharged his own positive energy by building upon his relationships with others. He led by example- showing what it meant to be patient, happy and kind, and never failed to appreciate the beauty in seemingly small moments. He truly loved life.
He worked as a journeyman glass bender, shaping glass tubes into glowing expressions of light- a true artist of neon- and was known to the trade as the “Neon Warrior.” He often brought to life and hosted at his studio- art, poetry, music, and a shared love for all the arts.
Thomas was a true “motorhead” and car collector; a lover of nature- feeling a sense of peace and healing through his daily outdoor meditations; a lifelong dog lover whose furry companions brought him endless joy; and a true Beatles fan- their music filled his world with rhythm, melody, and meaning.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents; brother- Steve; and niece- Tonya. He leaves behind countless family and friends who love him and will miss him dearly.
