She was born on March 31, 1946, to Theocta and Annie Mae (Hobbs) Smith in Moro, Arkansas. Thresse graduated from Manual High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Thresse worked for Hallmark Cards, Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri for 40 years, where she held several positions in various departments before retiring as a procurement analyst.
Thresse was energetic, friendly, and fun loving. She enjoyed an active lifestyle playing on the Hallmark Cards softball and basketball teams. She enjoyed line dancing with Palestine Missionary Baptist Church line dance group, Tai Chi, kickboxing, and traveling. She was an active member of Manual High School alumni and Hallmark Cards alumni. She was very active with family reunion activities and was the treasurer.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and attended Emanuel Baptist Church, Kansas City, Missouri and Second Missionary Baptist Church, Grandview, Missouri.
Her parents, younger brother Bobby C. Smith and older brother Haywood L. Smith, preceded her in death.
She is survived and greatly missed by her daughter Vickie E. Smith and special loved one James Banks. She also leaves her brothers Davard (Floristine), Larry (Elizabeth), James Arthur (Diane), and Calvin; sister in law Gloria; sisters Sandra (Glen), Gwen, and Dedra, and other extended family members, Uncle Leonard; cousins, Georgia, Jack, Robert, and Calvin; nieces Gia and Tasha; nephew Justin; spiritual sisters and brothers Dorothy (Fred), Mable (Charles), Joyce (Herb); grandchildren Robert III, LaTresha (Lu’Juan), Mario (Michelle), Theran, and a host of great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Thresse will be held Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 10:00am at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. A funeral services will follow at 11:00am. A burial will be held at Mount Moriah Cemetery South.
