It is with great sorrow and deep love that we announce the passing of Timothy "Tim" R. Sullivan on June 15, 2025, at the age of 84. Tim’s life was a testament to kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family, friends, and faith.
Born on June 6, 1941, Tim was a proud graduate of Rockhurst High School and Rockhurst College, where he not only excelled academically but shone on the baseball field. He played for three years in high school and four years in college, eventually going on to play in the Missouri 3&2 League. He was the first to be voted MVP in consecutive years, and in 1962, he was signed by the Kansas City A’s - an accomplishment that remained a highlight of his life.
Tim dedicated his career to the sporting goods industry, working in both sales and retail. His professional life reflected his passion for sports and his talent for connecting with people. Customers and colleagues alike appreciated his warmth, integrity, and humble nature.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Kathleen Sullivan (Schurig), and together they created a home filled with love and laughter. Tim was a loving father to Janet Rinehart (Jeff), Tim Sullivan (Abby), and Dan Sullivan (Erin). He was a proud grandfather to Kurt Rinehart (Morgan), Anna Kellerman (Doug), Kate Rinehart, Erin Sullivan, Ryann Sullivan, and Patrick Sullivan, and a joyful great-grandfather to Bennett Rinehart.
Tim loved vacationing in Colorado, especially with Kathleen, their children, and lifelong friends. He was a passionate fan of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, and he never missed a chance to talk about the latest game. One of the simplest and sweetest joys in Tim’s life was his love for ice cream - always shared with his grandkids, creating moments they will treasure forever.
He was a gentle man with a generous heart, remembered for his quiet wisdom, steadfast loyalty, and the love he gave so freely. Tim had a quick wit and a contagious sense of humor that could light up any room - his laughter and clever remarks brought smiles to all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the stories shared by those who knew him and in the lives of the family he cherished.
Services will be held at Curé of Ars Catholic Church on Friday, June 27. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tim’s memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation, Curé of Ars Church, or Rockhurst University. Mass will be livestreamed by Cure of Ars Catholic Church at https://youtube.com/live/61eSXpPkK7Y?feature=share
Though Tim has left this world, the love he gave continues to guide and inspire us. We are better for having known him, and he will forever be in our hearts.
