I was born in Sambucca di Sicilia, Italy on 1/29/13 and they say that I died on 9/10/10. I was one of 7 children born to Cologero and Maria Aldonzia LaSala. I came to the US at the age of 6 months & I was the prettiest baby on the boat. In my early years I was a huckster with a horse and wagon, but later became a salesman for Wonder Bread for 30 + years. When I met the love of my life, Frances (Dellario) LaSala, at a wedding, I told her that I was going to marry her during our first dance. She said that I was crazy, but she married me anyway 69 years ago and it was the best decision I ever made. We had 2 children, 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. My survivors include my children: Carl & (Suzi) LaSala, and Marilyn & (Steve) Gwartney; my grandchildren: Todd & (Nancy) LaSala, Chad & (Nancy) LaSala, Brandon & (Sarah) LaSala, Cara & (Ryan) Putnam, Daniel & (Jen) Gwartney and my brothers: Phil & Joe LaSala. Many that I loved died before me, including my parents, brothers, Sam and Charles LaSala & sisters, Rose Saitta & Mary LaSala. I had a wonderful life, I loved my wife, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, in-laws & outlaws without reservation. I would like to thank all of my care givers at St. Joseph Hospital, Village Shalom, Kathy and Leslie at Grand Court, Sister Catherine from the Sisters Servants of Mary and particularly Aimee’ Rohleder and her staff at Lamar Court. If you’d like to come say goodbye or see my beautiful family, we’ll be at McGilley’s at 12301 State Line on Monday, 9/13/10 from 5:30 to 7:30pm & the funeral Mass will be at St. Thomas More at 11822 Holmes on Tuesday, 9/14/10 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers my family suggests donations to either Rockhurst High School at 9301 State Line, KCMO or the Sisters Servants of Mary at 800 N. 18th Street Expressway, KCKS.
