Vicki (DoLance-Amundson) Van Engen was born on April 10, 1957 to Josephine Hocevar and Harry DoLance. Vicki was preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather and brother. She is survived by Jenna (Glen) Yoder, Jozy Van Engen, Andra Van Engen, three grandchildren, and three dogs.
Vicki graduated from Southwest High School in 1975. From there she furthered her education at The University of Missouri Kansas-City where she played volleyball on a scholarship and earned a bachelors degree. She then moved to Seattle to follow her mom and step dad and experience something new. She loved taking the ferry to her job at Coca Cola. One of her adventures took her to Mount Saint Helens when it began to erupt in 1980. Shortly after returning to Kansas City she met her first husband at Kelly’s Westport Inn, and shortly after had a daughter. She was later remarried and had two more daughters. Throughout her life she worked several jobs specializing in organization and data. Her last job focused on one of her favorite passions, which was caring for animals. Towards the end of her life she faced several health challenges, but it never stopped her from putting a smile on someone’s face or missing a good deal.
She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend. She never knew a stranger, and her kindness and caring personality will be remembered by many.
