

Victoria “Vicki” Marquez, 84, Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at NorthCare Hospice. Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine. Burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation on Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at McGilley Midtown Chapel. Rosary at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to KC American Heart Association & KC American Diabetes Association.
Mrs. Marquez was born with a generous heart on December 23, 1928, in Kansas City, MO. She retired after working for the KC School District as a cook. Her passions were cooking & opening her home to all. She was a devoted wife, mother, & grandmother. She was a strong believer of God. She also loved to shop, sew, & be with her grandbabies. Everyone who knew her was blessed with the unique ways she made you smile, such as her funny sayings & chismosa tendencies.
Victoria was preceded in death by her parents, Alejo & Jesus Aguilar; husband, John Marquez, Sr.; grandson, John Michael Marquez; and daughter-in-law, Martha Marquez. She is survived by her children, John Marquez, Jr., Kansas City, MO, Ramon (Donna) Marquez, Liberty, MO, Maria Valadez, Blue Springs, MO, Diana Rodriguez-Clark, Kansas City, MO, Angela (Geary) Cude, Duke, MO and Nicholas (Teresa) Marquez, Independence, MO; 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Timothy “Tom” Aguilar; and sister, Frances “Kika” Ramirez; & many nieces and nephews. A mother like ours is more than a memory. She was truly loved & will be greatly missed. She will always be in our hearts.
