

Virginia Padilla, 78, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed into the arms of the Lord on October 27, 2004, at Research Hospital. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2004, at Holy Name Catholic Church. Cremation will follow. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood, Kansas City, Missouri, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
Virginia was born on May 21, 1926, to Gavino and Maximina Bustamante. She was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area, attended Clara Barton School and was a graduate of Argentine High School. Virginia contributed to her community by serving as director of Deposito Economic Opportunity Foundation and Regional Director of Girl Scouts of America. She had been employed by SER Jobs for progress and El Centro, Inc., and retired from IBM in 1990. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Maximina and Gavino; brothers, Narcisso, Jesse and Sylvestre Bustamante; and granddaughter, Stephanie Orosco. She is survived by longtime friend and companion, Rafael Rios; brothers, Manuel, Frank, Martin, Joseph and Jesus Bustamante; sisters, Romana and Mercy Sanchez and their families; children, Rodney Padilla, Sr., and his wife, Stacie, Craig Steven Padilla and companion, Sandy, Brian Padilla, Teri Padilla and companion, Ann Hart, Yvonne Sanchez and her husband, Rudy; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory until they meet her again.
