

Virginia May Roe passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2015 in Willis, Texas at the age of ninety-one years. Funeral services are 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 7th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel; entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the McGilley Antioch Chapel.
Virginia was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Hughes; father, Claude Steck, Sr.; brothers, Claude Steck, Jr., Everette Steck, and Kenneth Steck; and a son, Ronald Lee Whitney, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Dean Whitney and wife, Cathy of Safety Harbor, FL, and Raymond A. Whitney and wife, Janice of Willis, TX. Also surviving are grandchildren, Leann Garvey of Tonganoxie, KS, Ronald Lee Whitney, Jr., of Imperial, MO, Rhonda Cira of St. Louis, MO, Deanna Stockman of Edgerton, MO, Michael Shawn Whitney of Kansas City, MO, and Jeffrey Neal Whitney of Frankfurt, Germany; along with nine great grandchildren.
Ms. Roe was born Virginia May Steck on January 8, 1924 in Council Grove, KS. She was married in 1940 to Asa A. Whitney after which she gave birth to her three sons and was mother and homemaker for the next 27 years. Virginia spent the last 60 years of her life in the Kansas City area, both Kansas and Missouri, and had recently moved to Willis, TX in May of 2015. She was proud of her family and will be missed.
