

Wayne O’Brien Anderson, Sr., age 89, of Kansas City, passed away at 5:45 a.m. August 5, 2015, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center. He was born August 24, 1925, in Mt. Olive, North Carolina, the son of George and Viola Anderson. Wayne joined the Army in 1943 and was stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, during World War II. On June 1, 1948, he was united in marriage to Mary Atheleen Williams. They moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1949 and opened Andersons Rental in the early 1950s.
In Wayne’s spare time he enjoyed flying, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family. He is survived by one sister Carolyn (Randy) Lee of North Carolina; four children, Brenda (Jim) Buford of Shawnee Mission, Pam (Ernie) Neal of Texas, Janet (Dave) Vink of Blue Springs, and Wayne (Nancy) Anderson, Jr. of Lee’s Summit; grandchildren Andrea Lindahl, Kimberly Owens, Zachary Talley, Wayne Anderson, III, Zachary Bierman, Joe Dec, Mitchell Bierman, Emilie Dec, Brian Buford, and Debbie Buford, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Viola, step-father Luther Hines, wife Mary, sister Mildred Jones, and brother LeRoy Anderson.
Family will receive friends and relatives from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 9, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 10, at the funeral home. Burial will follow services in Belton Cemetery, Belton, MO.
