

Wesley Lee Schuman, 89, of Kansas City North, passed away July 17, 2012 at North Care Hospice. He was born August 20, 1922 to Floyd “Pete” and Mary Schuman in Wathena, KS. He was unable to join the armed forces due to an injury resulting from an accident. He went on to work in Hanford, WA for 3 years in a government plant. He later returned to Kansas City, MO to work at Pratt and Whitney and during that time is when he met the love of his life Mary Burch Mayo. They were married June 1, 1946. He went on to work at Gustin-Bacon which later became CertainTeed. He worked there for 39 years until retiring in October 1985. He was a faithful member of Winnwood Baptist Church. He was a Deacon and involved in various activities with the church. He enjoyed bowling, puttering in his yard, The Royals, The Chiefs and he was forever the practical joker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd “Pete” and Mary Schuman, two sisters, Berenice Bradshaw and Jean Mosser. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Burch; two children, Randy Schuman (Lauretta), and Sherry Aleman (Rudy), both of Kansas City, MO; brother, Fred Schuman of Prairie Village, KS; five grandchildren, Bobby, Danny, Natalie, Brande and Courtney, all of Kansas City, MO; two great grandsons, Tyler and Bryce; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at North Kansas City Hospital and North Care Hospice for their care and support during the past week.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 6-8pm at McGilley Antioch Chapel. Funeral services will be Friday, July 20, 2012 at 10am, at McGilley Antioch Chapel, followed by burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to North Care Hospice or Winwood Baptist Church.
