A visitation will be held on Friday, April 6 at 2:00pm followed by a service at 3:00pm at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
Bill Bishop was born in Montgomery City, Missouri on June 23, 1936 to Wilford and Margaret (Uptegrove) Bishop. He grew up on his family’s farm in Montgomery County, Missouri and graduated from Montgomery City High School. Afterward Bill received a Bachelor’s degree from Westminster University in Fulton Missouri, and then went on to earn a PhD in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.
Bill spent most of his career serving the disabled at the Jewish Vocational Service and later as the Executive Director of the Wyandotte County Vocational Rehabilitation Services. Bill loved his work and the opportunity to help people achieve their full potential.
Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years Marilyn (Kehr) Bishop and their two children Mark Bishop and Stephanie Meeker. In addition, Bill was blessed with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will always be remembered as being fiercely loyal and committed to his family.
