

M.D. William David Bradshaw, M.D., 84, of the Village of Loch Lloyd, MO, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital. "Bill" was born January 23, 1928 to Pearl and Ivor Bradshaw in Barnett, MO. His family moved to Warrensburg when he was four. Bill attended Warrensburg schools where he was active in all sports, student activities and Boy Scouts. He was a graduate of Central Missouri State University, the University of Missouri School of Medicine, and the University of Kansas School of Medicine. In 1951 he married Dorothy Weir of Kansas City and they soon settled in Clinton where Bill practiced Family Medicine for 22 years. He was active in the community serving as County Coroner and Mayor and enjoyed varied interests including flying, cattle breeding and farming, Rotary (Paul Harris Fellow and District Governor). He served as the Chairman of the Missouri State Board of Health. After a heart attack and subsequent bypass surgery he closed his practice and the family moved to Columbia where he served as Director of Continuing Medical Education for the University of Missouri. Bill served as Associate Professor in Family Medicine and received many distinguished physician awards. He served as Dean of the Medical School and retired as Dean Emeritus. In 1988, Bill and Dorothy moved back to Kansas City where he served as Vice President of Medical Affairs for Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Bill found it difficult to remain retired and consequently enjoyed working throughout the Midwest as a "locum tenens" physician and at St. Luke's Hospital Rehabilitation Center. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Ivor Eugene Bradshaw and Pearl Tipton Bradshaw; brother, Eugene Tipton Bradshaw; and his sister, Helen Bradshaw Rickard. He leaves behind his wife, Dorothy, of the Village of Loch Lloyd; daughters, Deborah Bradshaw Tighe and Kevin Tighe of Worthington, Ohio, and Jane Weir Bradshaw of Kansas City; granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth Webb and Alex Webb of Overland Park, Ashley Katherine Brittingham and Brant Brittingham of Rosehill, KS, and Rachel Marie Grindle and Tim Grindle of Overland Park, KS; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Mary Webb, Layne, Gavin and Blake Brittingham of Rosehill, KS. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America Greater Kansas City Counsel. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 28th, 11:00 a.m., at the Country Club Christian Church, with burial following in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Warrensburg, MO at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be held Friday, April 27th, at McGilley State Line Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
