William was born November 26, 1923 in Pilot Grove, MO. He married Jacqueline L. Schwickrath on December 1, 1951 and raised a family of five boys and a girl. He served in the US Army as a tanker in the South Pacific from 1943 through 1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart. William retired from Montgomery Wards after 27 years in 1986. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark, and his parents, John Francis and Mary (Gillespie) Cullen.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline, sons, David (Jill) Cullen, Patrick (Belinda) Cullen, Tom Cullen, John (Jean) Cullen, and a daughter, Mary Beaumont as well as fourteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
