

William E. Edwards, 86, Kansas City in Platte County, MO, passed September 26, 2014 at his home. The Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 AM Thursday, October 2nd at St. Therese Catholic Church, near Parkville; entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:30-7:30 PM Wednesday at the McGilley Antioch Chapel where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM.
On December 28, 1927 a son was born to James E. and Anna L. Edwards in Washington, D.C. William E. Edwards grew up with his three sisters, Delores, Betty and Janet in the D.C. area. Having a love of flying and aircraft, “Bill” (known as Gene to his family) worked temporarily for Trans World Airlines as a teen. During World War II, he joined the Army Air Corp and served in the Pacific Arena. While in the service, Bill passed through St. Louis, MO and met the love of his life. He married this red-haired beauty on November 11, 1950 and from there Bill and Eleanor (Ele) spent nearly 64 years together. They had 7 children: Valorie, William, Denise, Linda, Mark, Allyson and Nancy; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Bill made a life for his family in Kansas City, MO by dedicating 41 years as a machinist with TWA. His love of vehicles, both land and air, was known by all who had the pleasure of being part of his life.
Survivors include his loving wife, Ele; a sister, Janet; his 7 children; 15 grandchildren and 11 of his great grandchildren. Bill’s bold, witty and commanding personality will always be remembered and missed by his family and friends for eternity.
