

Willie was Born in Jackson, Alabama to Alfred Burroughs and Pearl Hamilton. He eventually moved to Owensboro, Kentucky where he graduated from Owensboro High School. After attending Western Kentucky University, Willie moved to Kansas City where he lived the rest of his adult life.
Willie worked the last 17 years at the IRS, where he was known as a friend and father figure to many. He shared jokes, recipes and family stories with many. A man of integrity and kindness, he instilled a strong work ethic in his children and always made time for his family.
In Willie’s free time, he enjoyed family time, history, movies, physical fitness, music and was often found tending to his many plants.
He was preceded in death by Mary Burroughs (widow), Willie Lee Chapman (sister), Thelma Lee Williams (sister), Lula Mae Williams-McKenzie (sister), John Alfred Burroughs Jr. (brother), Alfred Burroughs (father), Pearl Hamilton (mother).
Willie is survived by his children Eric (Jason) Burroughs and Monica White. His grandchildren Lauryn Burroughs, Jason Burroughs, Donovan White and Vivian White. His brothers and sisters Jimmie L. Burroughs(brother), Dorothy Ann Burroughs-Hobbs (sister), Sopora Louise Burroughs-Schuler (sister), Bonnie Pearl Leachman (sister), Lucinda Vanderbilt-White (sister), Vera Mae Whigham (sister), Bertha R Williams-Stiggers (sister).
A Celebration of Life will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, located at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131, on November 13, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
