Alicia Bliss Anderson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on December 27, 1940, in Panama, Republic of Panama, Alicia was raised by her devoted mother, Benita Pinillo, in the challenging years following World War II. Alongside her sister, Alicia’s early life was marked by resilience and strength, qualities that would go on to define her entire life.
Alicia pursued her passion for education and graduated from the Panama Teachers Institute in March of 1974. She went on to dedicate her life to teaching, beginning her career in a one-room schoolhouse deep in the rural countryside of Panama. Her commitment to education was unwavering, and her pride in seeing her three children complete their college education was one of her greatest accomplishments.
She is survived by her loving husband, Allen Anderson, her three devoted children, Diana, Michael, and Andrew, and her cherished grandchildren, Antonia, Andriese, Max, and Diana. Alicia was preceded in death by her mother, Benita. Her enduring spirit, unwavering determination, and deep love were constants in the lives of her family, who will forever remember her for her warmth, tenacity, and unshakable presence.
Alicia had a zest for life and a heart full of joy. She loved tending to her garden, caring for her many pets, and sharing her love of salsa music and travel. She found special joy in playing church bingo with Allen, a simple pleasure that brought them laughter and companionship. Alicia was deeply admired for her grit and grace, and she left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the love she gave so freely.
