

Andrew James Meade Sr., 90, of Missouri City, Texas made his transition to be with our heavenly Father on Thursday, March 14, 2024. He passed away peacefully knowing that he was deeply loved by family and friends.
Andrew was born on October 16, 1933 in New Orleans, Louisiana to his parents William P. and Althea H. Meade. He was a long-time resident of New Orleans, LA as well as Missouri City, TX. He graduated from Mcdonough 35 high school in New Orleans, LA and was a wonderful son and brother. At the age of 20, Andrew enlisted in the Air Force Armed Services where he began his illustrious career in the military. He valued his military service highly and attained the rank of Technical Sergeant. He retired after 26 years of service to our country. In July of 1955 he married his beautiful wife Violet E. Meade and began a beautiful life of travel and family. Together they raised four kids, 3 sons and a daughter. Upon retirement from the military, Andrew studied at Texas Southern University and worked for the Internal Revenue Service until 1991.
Andrew enjoyed politics, sports and had a great sense of humor. He had a deep passion for airplanes and even studied to get his pilots license. He had a voracious appetite for knowledge and read daily. He kept a small but supportive circle of family and friends and was a Christian. He spent most of his time with his family celebrating holidays and achievements. He was a devoted husband and loved his wife more than life.
Andrew was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 66 years Violet Meade; his parents William and Althea Meade; brother, George Meade and sister, Marjorie Meade. He leaves behind daughter, Michelle and fiancé David of Katy, TX; sons, Andrew Jr. and wife Lynda of Mountain View, CA; Eric Meade of Katy, TX; Michael and wife Christina of Richmond, TX; grandchildren, Anna-Noel, Ramsey and Everett, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, April 8, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Katy Funeral Home, located at 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77494, which will be followed by a funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM. The burial will take place on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery, located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
