

Charlie grew up in Humble, Texas, and went on to have a distinguished career as a Senior Captain with the Houston Fire Department for 34 years. He was married to Darlene in Missouri City on May 30, 1989.Together, they built a loving family.
Charlie had a passion for car shows, chili cook-offs, astronomy, and photography. He enjoyed watching football and was well-known for his cooking, car shows, and showmanship at cook-offs, winning numerous awards for his chili and cars.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Hilliard Throop, his mother, Elizabeth Throop, and his brother, James Russell Throop. Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene Faye Throop, his son Austin Ray Throop, his wife Caitlin, and granddaughter Gracie. He is also survived by his son Bryan Russell Throop, his brother William Scott Throop and wife Paula, his sister Lucille Elizabeth (Betsy) Black, his niece Stephanie Leigh Black, his nephew Phillip Ward Black, and other relatives.
A visitation will be held on December 17, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Katy Funeral Home, located at 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77494. A funeral service will follow at the same venue from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The committal service will be held at Forest Park Southwest Cemetery, 9040 FM 359, Richmond, TX 77406, from 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
