Christopher John Patch was born on October 16, 1967, in Waltham, Massachusetts, to Charles and Mary Patch. He was one of six siblings and is lovingly remembered by his brothers Peter Patch, Timothy Patch, Stephen Patch, and Daniel Patch, as well as his late sister, Mary Catherine “Cathy” Patch. As a child, Chris found great joy in playing ice hockey and riding bikes around Pony Court in Bellingham, Massachusetts, with his brothers. Summers spent at York Beach, Maine, with his father and siblings remained some of his fondest memories. In 1981, the family moved to Wells River, Vermont, where Chris graduated from Oxbow High School in 1985.
Chris explored various professions early in life, including working as a drywaller and a disc jockey, before deciding to pursue higher education. He enrolled at the University of Maine and, in 1990, married the love of his life, Shalom. He was later accepted into the University of Maine’s Construction Management program, dedicating himself fully to his studies. Chris graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management and an Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering. He was just one credit shy of earning an additional Associate’s degree in Survey Engineering.
Professionally, Chris was a devoted and loyal employee. For over two decades, he served as a Project Director at Gulf Companies, where he was respected not only for his technical skills but also for his passion for teaching and mentoring others in the construction industry.
Chris was deeply committed to acts of generosity. He made it a tradition each holiday season to shop as a family for those in need. Each year, he would choose a tag from the company’s giving tree and made sure a child received a new bicycle and protective gear. These acts of kindness were his way of instilling the values of compassion and giving in his sons.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shalom Patch, and his two sons, Ryan Patch and Cooper Patch, all of whom were the light of his life. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Patch, and his brothers Peter, Tim, Stephen, and Dan. He was predeceased by his father, Charles Patch, and his sister, Cathy Patch.
Chris was a man of many interests and talents. He enjoyed playing tennis and relished evenings spent with friends playing card games, especially poker, where he often left the table ahead. A devoted fan of New England sports, Chris never wavered in his support, regardless of the team’s performance. He also had a lifelong passion for music and guitars. He shared a special bond with his son Ryan through their weekly guitar lessons, where they explored music theory and the joy of playing together. He shared a love of sports and trivia with his son Cooper. They would watch every Patriots game together and give each other trivia questions all the time.
Friends and family knew Chris as a true connoisseur of movie lines and song lyrics. He had a remarkable memory and a love for sharing a good quote or lyric in the perfect moment. Chris also loved motorcycles and the freedom of the open road, even if the traffic in Katy, Texas, cut that hobby short. He had a deep love for travel and was fortunate to share a final getaway to Turks and Caicos in February 2025 with his wife, Shalom.
Chris will be remembered for his generous heart, his quick wit, and his unwavering love for his family and friends. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and dedication will live on in all who knew him.
