Courtney grew up in Houston, Texas, and graduated from Alief Hastings High School, after which she continued her education receiving associates degrees in Early Childhood Development & Radiologic Technology, from Houston Community College.
She found and married the love of her life, William Richards, on October 6, 2012. They were married for nine wonderful years, but have been by each other’s side since the fall of 2008.
Courtney’s favorite activity was traveling the world with her husband. She was always ready for an adventure and despite being faced with so many challenges always kept a positive outlook on life. She also enjoyed exercising, spending time with family, quiet evenings at home cooking, and spending time with her Pug, Charlie (and previously her pug, Max).
She had such a beautiful fighting spirit and always achieved what she set her sights on. Nothing highlighted this more than the way she took her nearly 10-year battle with cancer head on. Never once any fear and never once any sorrow or “why me”. Just fight.
Courtney is survived by her husband, William Richards; her parents, Clifford & Lila Andrews; her brother, Chris Andrews; her sister, Lisa Jurena; & her nieces, Kendall, Taylor, and Grace.
To Those I Love
When I am gone, release me, let me go.
You musn’t tie yourself to me with tears.
Just be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love, you can only guess,
how much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
but now it’s time I traveled alone.
So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must,
then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It’s only for a while that we must part,
so bless the memories within your heart.
I won’t be far away, for life goes on,
so if you need me, call, and I will come.
Though you can’t see, or touch, I’ll be near.
And if you listen with your heart, you’ll hear
all of my love around you, soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone,
I’ll greet you with a smile, and say
“Welcome Home”.
