He was a native Houstonian born October 20, 1936, to Hollis and Mildred Brewer. Don is preceded in rest by his loving wife and best friend, JoAnn Marsh Brewer and sister, Rebecca Brewer Beauchamp.
JoAnn Marsh Brewer, age 85, Katy, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
She was a native Houstonian born August 24,1936, to George and Leona Marsh.
They are survived by son, David (Phyllis) Brewer and daughter, Pamela Brewer Jones; grandchildren:Cutter (Ashley) Brewer, Jake Brewer, Aimee (BK) Beard, Jeremy (Cindy) Jones; great grand children: Grayson Breaux, Emmalyn Brewer, Preston, Jude, Gracen, Oliver and Jackson Beard and Theodore Jones; brother-in-law, Luzon Beauchamp; nieces, Cynthia Bailey (Hugh Beauh) and Karen (David) Boriack; and nephew, Andrew Beauchamp.
Don and JoAnn were graduates of Aldine High School, class of 1955 where they were voted “cutest senior couple”. The two married the following year, and within a few years, were blessed with two children, David and Pamela.
Don received his Doctorate in Chiropractic from the Texas Chiropractic College in 1959. He practiced a short time in Silsbee and Houston, before settling in Nederland by taking over the Nederland Chiropractic office from 1965-2003 until he retired. JoAnn supported Don in every way and she worked for top level executives at US AA and Pure Oil Company. She also became a legal secretary before transitioning to manage their practice full time.
During his time, as a Chiropractor, Don was appointed to the Texas Chiropractic College Board of Regents in 1996. He held the office of secretary from 1999-2005 when he retired from the Board. It was an honor and privilege for he and JoAnn to be involved with the College and the community of Nederland.
Throughout the years, they both enjoyed deer hunting, snow skiing, golfing, and most of all traveling together. Once grandkids came, they loved taking them on trips, and one of the favorites was Disney World.
In 2005, they decided to move to Fredericksburg where they made their home for the next 18 years. Don always enjoyed staying active and found a new work family at the local H-E-B. He retired from there after working for 12 years so he could be at home with JoAnn.
They truly leave a legacy of faith in Christ to their family and friends. From Bible studies at home, teaching in the prison, or encouraging others, they were always ready to pray for and share the goodness of God to those around them. Although they will be deeply missed, as a Christian family, we know we will see them again.
We would like to thank all of those who touched the lives of our parents, and as our dad would so kindly say when he saw anyone, “have a blessed day”.
