

Donna Lynn Nixon (Wysong), 71, of Katy, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2022. Donna was born in Dayton, Ohio on September 30, 1950, to Donald and Frances Wysong. She attended Kettering East High School and graduated in 1968. Nursing was her lifelong passion. Donna attended Ohio State University School of Nursing, achieving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1971. She joined Zeta Tau Alpha sorority while attending and formed lifelong friendships with Marilyn Napier, Rosemary Farren, and Linda Wolfgang.
While attending Ohio State University, she met her loving husband, Kenneth Nixon. They married on February 24, 1973. They spent the first year of their marriage in Japan, courtesy of the Unites States Air Force. They returned to Columbus after that time while Kenneth finished his degrees. During that time, Donna worked in the MICU at the Ohio State University Hospital until 1978. Donna and Kenneth moved to Katy, Texas in 1981. They have one daughter, Elizabeth who was born in 1985 and resides in Katy, Texas.
Donna worked in nursing throughout the entirety of her career. Her special interest was in cardiac care. She managed and owned the Heart Health Center for 25 years. She then went on to work as a health science consultant for Merck until her retirement in 2012. She was an intelligent and successful career driven woman.
Donna was an avid football fan and followed the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals. She looked forward to a trip to Columbus each fall to see the Buckeyes play and visit with friends and family. She also enjoyed going to watch the Steeler’s play with her and Kenneth’s longtime friend, Patrick Accrocco. She loved to travel when she and Kenneth had the opportunity. Donna never met an animal she didn’t love and carried a special interest in birds. Her daughter, Elizabeth, turned her into an avid Boston terrier owner. She also enjoyed throwing parties in her home for family and friends, and hosting holiday gatherings.
Donna is survived by her husband, Kenneth Nixon, and her daughter, Elizabeth Nixon.
