Genny Silverthorne was born on March 15, 1949, in Taichung, Taiwan, to her parents Yuan Quin Chen and Tzun Young. She was raised alongside her sister, Chin-Chu Borden, and from a young age displayed a passion for learning and connection. After graduating high school in Taiwan, Genny met her future husband, Kenneth Ray Silverthorne, in 1967 while he was serving in the United States Air Force. The two married in April 1968 and soon after, she moved to the United States to begin a new chapter of life together. They spent the next 57 years building a home filled with love, family, and enduring partnership.
Genny worked in the banking industry for many years, balancing her career with the responsibilities of being a dedicated wife and mother. Together, she and Kenneth raised two children, Kenneth James and Ericalynn, and later delighted in the joy of becoming grandparents to Jonathan David Cannon and Kannon James Silverthorne.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Kenneth Ray Silverthorne; her son, Kenneth James Silverthorne and his wife Melissa; her daughter, Ericalynn Cannon and her husband Alex; her grandsons, Jonathan David Cannon and Kannon James Silverthorne; and her sisters, Chin Chu Borden and Marilyn Hilty. She was preceded in death by her parents, Yuan Quin Chen and Tzun Young.
Genny had a vibrant spirit and lived life with energy and grace. She enjoyed staying active, regularly attending Zumba and Yoga classes at the gym. She had a remarkable talent for languages and was fluent in Taiwanese, Chinese, English, American Sign Language, Portuguese, and Spanish. Her ability to communicate across cultures was a true gift that she shared generously with others. Genny was a faithful member of Grace Fellowship in Katy, where her presence and warmth touched many lives.
Her life was a beautiful reflection of devotion, resilience, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
