As we come together to remember and honor Joel Flores, I wanted to share a little about his life and the many wonderful memories we have of him.
Joel was born in Robstown outside of Corpus Christi, Texas. He graduated from Roy Miller High School and went on to become an ABF Truck Driver and a Union Representative for 30+ years. Joel was passionate about his work and provided a good life for his family. Joel was a man of strong faith and was dedicated in spreading the Kingdom Good News and Serving Jehovah.
In his free time, Joel loved and had a passion for playing golf, cheering on the Astros, going camping with the entire Flores gang, and performing many karaoke comic skits. He was known for his nickname "Cujo" and for always being the life of the party, bringing joy and entertainment to those around him. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family, and especially in the last few years building a strong bond with his great-grandchildren.
Joel married the love of his life, Felicitas Delarosa, and they shared many happy years together. He is survived by his children, Melissa Newell, Monica Garcia, Joel Jr. Flores, and Lizette Flores. Joel was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Meledie Castro, Malorie Luna, Micah Flores, Alyssa Garcia, Noah Garcia, and Luke Flores, and three great grand-children, Roman, Monroe and McKensie Castro!
He leaves behind five wonderful siblings that will surely feel the great loss of their older brother. Raymond Flores, Edward Flores, Irma Ybarra, Debra Martinez and little brother Ruben Flores. He will always remain in their hearts.
As we remember Joel, let us celebrate the wonderful person he was and the many ways he touched our lives. He will be greatly missed and will forever be in our hearts.
