John Joseph Laine III

John Joseph Laine III, 65, passed away on December 29th, 2025 in Katy, Texas. Born on September 10th, 1960 in Garches, France, John grew up in the suburb of Paris where he attended the American School of Paris and developed his passion of flight from his father and their attendance at the Paris Air Show. He would later develop that passion by working for Pan American World Airways, traveling the world as a flight attendant. It was working for Pan Am that he met his beloved wife, Rita and they would marry in 1993. Throughout their marriage, John worked as a police officer for Harris County, Pct. 5 Constable’s Office. He raised and certified countless K-9’s and always kept his joy for dogs alive. He is remembered for his love of flying, heavy machinery, and classic one-liners that would make everyone laugh. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Rita Laine; daughter, Danielle Clayton; sons, David Laine and Captain Dalton Laine; future grandson, Arthur Clayton; mother in-law, Charlotte Gray; siblings Todd Laine and Amy Lee. He was preceded in death by parents, John “Jack” Joseph Laine Jr. and Patsy “Pat” Ruth Laine; sister Alice Lee Laine; father in-law, Frank Gray. Special mention to his close friends, Shawn Brown, Aldrin Fuentes, and Todd Fogelsong. He will always have a place in our hearts and we will be forever grateful for the community he provided. May his memory be a blessing to us all.

A visitation will be held on January 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Katy Funeral Home, located at 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77494.

Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will take place at the same location from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
