John Roland Whitehead

John Roland Whitehead went to be with his Lord, Tuesday July 4, 2023, at Houston Methodist Hospital after a brief illness. The family will receive friends, on Monday, July 10th, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cinco Ranch Church of Christ, 6655 S Mason Rd., Katy, TX 77450 followed by interment Tuesday, July 11th , 10:00 a.m. John will be laid to rest at Forrest Park Southwest Cemetery.

John was born August 4, 1980, in Jackson, MS to Ronnie and Karen Whitehead. After graduating from Hillcrest Christian School, he attended Ouachita Baptist on a football scholarship, eventually returning home to play for Mississippi College where he graduated with a degree in Political Science. He continued his career with the Indoor Football League playing for the Lubbock Gunslingers and Katy Copperheads.

While living in Texas, he met the love of his life, Brooke. They settled down and were married in May 2008. They had three children: Boston, Emerson, and Dalton.

John was a devoted husband and father, and his life was centered around his wife and children. When you first met John, he would be quick to tell you that his family was his greatest accomplishment. His hobbies included attending any and every activity with his family and cheering for the LSU Tigers!

John is preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Whitehead of Byram, MS. He is survived by his wife, Brooke Whitehead; son; Boston; daughter; Emerson; and son; Dalton, all of Katy, TX; mother; Karen Whitehead of Byram, MS; sister; Candy Brown (Wade) of Byram; nephews; Prentice and Collin Brown of Byram; sister-in-law; Briana Hardy, Katy, TX; niece; Kynlee Hardy; in-laws, Bill and Donna Bradshaw; Tuskahoma, OK.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Cinco Ranch Church of Christ.
