

Lyle was born in Stanton, Nebraska, and grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he developed a strong work ethic and an unyielding love for his family. A proud graduate of Cheyenne High School in 1955, he went on to pursue higher education at the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 1959 and a Master’s degree in 1961.
Lyle dedicated 38 years of his life to a rewarding career as a Chemical Engineer for Shell Oil Company, where his expertise and commitment made a significant impact in his field. He also proudly served in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant during his two years of service.
In 1963, Lyle married his beloved wife, Marsha Dolloff, in Hyannis, Massachusetts. They shared a life of love, adventure, and devotion. Together, they raised two daughters, Karin and Kristin, who were his pride and joy. Lyle was a loving and dedicated father, always eager to coach his daughters' youth soccer teams and referee games for youth and high school teams. His passion for soccer was matched only by his love for the outdoors. For over 30 years, he enjoyed backpacking in the Colorado mountains with close friends, creating memories that he cherished deeply.
Lyle was a long-time member of St. Peters United Methodist Church in Katy, Texas, where he served the community faithfully for 43 years. His commitment to his faith and the church was a testament to his character and unwavering sense of service.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Irving Asplin.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Marsha Asplin; his daughters, Karin (Chris) Coons of Lewisville, Texas, and Kristin Haas of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his grandchildren, Isabella and Olivia Haas; his brother, Martin (Bonnie) Asplin of Del Norte, Colorado; his sister, Rosalie (Jim) Boldin of Austin, Texas; and his niece, Jennifer (Andrew) Jetton of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, along with their children, Emily, Charles, and Matthew.
Lyle’s memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him. His unwavering love for his family, his friends, and his faith leaves an indelible mark on this world. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
